These days, many people are used to texting compared to calling people. It is easier to text people because everyone is busy these days. I use Kakaotalk instead of using mobile text messaging when I want to send messages to people. It is for free and more convenient than texting people using text messaging to send out announcements. Also, it is easier to talk with a lot of people at once when you text so I think it is better than calling. The downside of texting is that we cannot hear the other person’s voice or tone, so some texts can be misinterpreted. One time, I told someone to call me if she can. She was offended because it seemed like I was commanding her to call me. There was a big misunderstanding because of a short text message with no emotion. That is the problem with text messages because the reader can read it in a different tone than what the writer intended. Even though, there are slight miscommunications, I still like using text messages because they are more convenient than calls.
