The last time I cooked was last month, on my wife’s birthday. Of course, I cooked her my specialty; Japchae. It also happens that Japchae is the representative food for joyous occasions, and Japchae noodles represent longevity, so it is the perfect food for birthdays. Before my wife came, I had all the preparations ready. I asked her to go directly to our house. When she told me she had left her office, I started to cook. When she arrived about 20 minutes later, my Japchae was ready and it was still hot. My wife was surprised to see that I had cooked Japchae as it is quite a difficult dish to make. I wished her a happy birthday and told her that this Japchae is my birthday present. She took a mouthful and told me that it was so delicious I should open a Japchae restaurant. I was very happy to hear that. It was a memorable moment.
