| 내용 | I have a 1 year-old son, and his birthday is coming. The first birthday of a baby is traditionally meaningful and important here in Korea, thus, I'm also throwing a party for my son. First, I should invite my families to my house and prepare several kinds of food, of course. Some people hold huge party at a expensive restaurant, but my husband and I want to have a peaceful time with family only. In the first birthday, Korean usually do many things to celebrate the happy day, but among them 'doljabi' would be special and funny thing for the day, I think. The 'doljabi' is a kind of event for foreseeing baby's future. More specifically speaking, several symbolic items standing for baby's future are prepared; for example, money meaning for being rich person, pencil for scholar, stethoscope for medical doctor, hammer for judge, and so on. Once these items are shown to the baby, the baby should grab one of these things. People believe that the chosen item represents that what kind of person the baby will be in the future. These days, funnily, money is the best item that most of parent hope their baby to select. I just hope that my son to grow up well and be a person who can enjoy his own life. |
